Good-Bye Switzerland

I left Switzerland yesterday.

It was quite a sad farewell and I will miss Isabella my collegue, landlady and friend a lot...
We had so much fun working together during the day. Cooking together, sitting on the balcony, gossiping, riding the Vespa, jogging and swimming, dancing, ...

The last days have been pretty intense once more.
Wednesday I had dinner with Falk and we went out afterwards till early morning.
With a biiig lack of sleep and still vodka cranberry in my blood I had to run to catch my tram, cause I didnt want to be late my last day... However, I was a lazy bumm in the hospital. My level of motivation decreased and decreased and I guess it was mainly due to a big melancholy overwhelming my little heart... My first operation I assisted was an orthopedic one: hip replacement, my last one was traumatology: a broken femur Thursday at 4 p.m. ... the hip joint was one of my dearest friends in Switzerland :-))

The evening I spent with Damien, having table BBQ at Badi Wollishofen, some drinks at Badi Enge and trying to get on top of Uti Mountain with the car. Well, there is no official road so we tried to find a way up on all those bike paths - I have to admit the little scary bunny I am, I saw us stranded with the car in some kind of puddle of mud or hit by a boar more than once...
Oh, yeah, we didnt reached to view platform but nothing happened expect from being flashed speeding on our way back...

Adina came from Germany on Friday. I havent seen her since her birthday. And I was really looking forward to see her finally after 6 months again. She arrived a bit tired after coming back from Moscow and we went to my favorite shop in Zurich area - the big Lindt Chocolate shop...
Also we got us some Shirts in summer sale.

We and Isabella met Falk and friends at the Rimini Bar and went on pub and party hopping to Sugar Lounge and Mascotte (it is really cool to go out with two pretty girls - queue jump instead of waiting for an hour as others had to...)

Saturday then was hang-over morning.
Finally we all got up cause we had to go shopping some groceries... We invited all the doctors and some friends to join us having BBQ at the Werdinsel in Zurich - it is a little isle in between the Limmat River and a popular swimming ground. We prepared some salad and cooked and baked a bit. Sadly it wasnt very sunny (for the first time in weeks) and thun der storms were predicted. We considered and discuss a looong time what we would do - finally we didnt change our plans and left for the Isle.
We swam a bit around and when everbody was there (unfortunately Simone, Miranda and Achim could not come)- we started our BBQ. We had those really cool ready-to-BBQ-grills for dummies. Everthing is prepared and you just have to ignite the paper on top of the grill. It was a food fest but I started to feel that itching in my throat. I know that feeling - another Strep throat is on its way... After leaving the isle we went to Caro's and I loved their balcony. It was almost better than TV. We renamed the windows as Channels. I saw the prostitute in black leather high heels bringing one of her clients out, taking the next in and then leaving the place after 20 minutes..

We had a little breakfast on Sunday before Todd came to pick Adina and me up. Now my throat really aches and I m trying to get fit and healthy till Thursday- our flight to the States is booked and I m excited to go on that trip.

Boat House party

Last Friday Doris invited us (= her collegues from work) and a couple of friends to a BBQ party at her family house at Lake Zürich.
It is a great wooden boats house with an own little peer. I really like the whole flair!
We had some 60ies and 7oies music from the juxbox (If you are going to Saaan Fraaaan-ci-sco....), nice steaks and some good swims.
Some of us also had one or two drinks to much ...

I went to Germany the next morning in order to bring my bike back. I wont be able to fit all my lagguage in Todds car next weekend - we went out and had some sushi, watched POSEIDON (I thought it was by far not as bad as the critics say), had brunch with Mona and Rick on Sunday and had a lovely walk in the hills around Heidelberg.

Tomorrow is my last day at work!

It's The Final Countdown

...

Just 10 more days and I ll be back in Germany- not for very long though cause Alaska is calling and Todd is going to introduce me to a couple of his friends- am really looking forward to that trip.

What has happened since my last entry?
I finally moved in at Isabellas. The main reason was cause I had to leave the staff housing .. But to live with a local is great - no doubt ! - I really like her, the flat is cool, we cook with eachother and talk, gossip and talk a lot...

Last Thursday we had a little party- Isabella and me to celebrate our 3 week-long stay together ;-)
We went jogging on Saturday and Sunday and swimming as well... Every little lake and river a refreshing source if you have temperatures of more than 30° C /90 F ...
Oh and it was the last weekend of the FIFA Worldcup in Germany. We unfortunately lost the semifinal against Italy who won the Cup in the end against France after Penalties.

Simones friend Zeina from the States is visiting and the three of us had BBQ with Simones family on Monday. I also had a beer at Badi Enge afterwards.
And yesterday we had dinner guests again - I feel like time is running away. Leaving. I will miss some great friends a lot! I was cooking some curry coconut chicken yesterday and everybody liked it. For the first time (in three months - shame on me) I also bought some Luxemburgerli ... a Zürich dessert/ biscuit speciality - quite yummy but expensive, so not having discovered them any earlier might have been not too bad in the end...
ADAGIO clubbing yesterday was an akward experience... we found the club listed in Zürichs party guide. It didnt sound bad at all... some midieval castle flair... big baroquesk sofas, chandeliers ... but it was a freak show of single folks in their late fourties ( and plus)... sorry to sound so harsh, but I felt completely displaced there... so we just had a cocktail and left...

Active weekend

What a great weekend and loads of fun I had...
Sae and Noami from the UK, Todd, Dan and Chris came to Switzerland and I organised an amazing (sorry for praising myself) flat and a little programme that included wild water rafting and a hiking tour near the Matterhorn- Switzerlands' most famous mountain (see the picture in the middle)...

Sae already arrived here on Thursday- we went out for some sushi, some wodka drinks and night clubbing- Friday was our train travel day and we watched how Germany won the penalty shooting to enter the Semifinal of the Worldcup...

Saturday was our amazing wild water raft and we had loads of fun. Luckily, I didnt fall out of the boat. We had some all American style BBQ and fell asleep tiredly to get up for some brunch the next morning and go to Zermatt. We took a route called "Seenweg" (Way of Lakes) and passed 5 Lakes always with the Matterhorn shining at the horizon. The last lake was our refreshment source and we jumped in cooling down a bit.
Everybody left on Monday, but my trip wasnt over yet. Todd and me drove to Bern, the Swiss capital, and spend a couple of hours wlaking through the old arcades of the town and sharing some lunch...

Life is good, especially if you can take some days off...
Back to work yesterday and 11 more working days to go for me here in Zürich....
