My online DIARY

has turned into a kinda online WEEKLY due to a lack of time, but life is good!!!
Work is still okay, we often joke around... Since there were so many holidays lately many people didnt come to hospital for elective surgeries. So our schedule in the theatres was not as busy as it has been before.

We help other doctors as much as we can, but lately there was always some time for getting to know people better, fool around and have coffee breaks ;-)
Also, Swiss doctors started to invite us more and more often to do fun stuff with them. Miranda had a little "welcome to my new home"-Party and we cooked for her, a fun evening with almost all doctors from the surgical department.
The next morning most of us had to have some aspirine for breakfast ...

Kerstin has left today. I helped her packing the car and I m going to miss her a lot. The new fellow who come to work in her position... uuhm... well we are not really at the same wave length. She is friendly but kinda very confused- not from this world...
And whats even more worrying me: her level of enjoyment at work is not very high as it seems. So is her level of motivation. She just loves to go home early...
Last week Kerstin and me we went to the LINDT & SPRÜNGLI chocolate factory shop once again... and came home with more than 3 pounds of chocolate each... my summer six pack is drowning in white and dark cacao sweets...

Movie Festival

Third Man Out
On Tuesday I met Marco- a talented photographer (as I think - check www.marcocarocari.com ) and we went to the movies. We saw THIRD MAN OUT that was shown for the Pink Apple Zurich Film Festival.
On Wednesday Isabella was our guest for this weeks cooking evening. We had sweetpotatoes, garlic carrots and curry turkey and very yummy hot chocolate muffins with vanilla ice as dessert - Unfortunately no pics ;-)
Last weekend

Todd visited me last weekend as well. He came Saturday around noon and I was on call. Unfortunately I really had to work a lot- I hardly saw him all Saturday, but we had a nice Sunday: Brunch near the Opera house, a walk through the parks around the lake and through the old city. The Pictures show the “Grossmünster” where Charlemagne (the guy with the Golden sword) 1200 years ago founded the (one of the?) first church(es) in Zürich. Also to be seen are pictures from the Tower that we climbed up and from the view we had from there.
Salsamania

I havent updated my blog for quite some time so I ll try to give you a quick update.
3 weeks ago we (Mareike, Kerstin and me) started the “tradition” to cook together at least once a week and invite for every dinner another doctor/ intern to get to know him or her a bit better. Last week it was Johannes, who is originally from
The other day we went to have dinner with some more people from work and hit the dancefloor at X-TRA club in

Thats where I am...

For all those who wonder why I live excately since I m not in downtown Zurich:
I live in house that is mostly for staff living. It is just across the court of the hospital. The hospital itself is south east of Zurich, just a 15 minutes tram ride from the lake and the Opera House (see my notes on the map)
To me, I m a jolly goood fe-hel-low ...

25 years I m on the wonderful planet now and I feel just as young and energetic as 23 ;-)
Mareike and Kerstin surprised me Thursday morning with a chocolate cake and I was able to blow out all candles at once (honestely: only at the second try when we took the picture, but still...)

Later in the evening we had all the "Assistenz-Ärzte" (kinda interns) here. Mareike also celebrated her birthday (belated) and we had some good Lasagne, strawberry cake and punch! Not only Kerstin suffered from headaches the next morning ;-)
